For tourists who come to Rome in addition to visiting museums, catacombs scc another important beauty are the Fountains of Rome. The innumerable works of the fountains in Rome are a sign of the relationship between the Romans and the water.

For the Roman people, water was a gift from the Gods, for they gave a name to every source.

The most important source is Egeria, which takes its name from the Nymph who was the wife of one of the seven kings of Rome, Numa Pompiglio.

With the passing of the years important fountains were built to embellish and give an, important mark to the city.

Among the most important there is the Barcaccia of Piazza di Spagna, situated in front of the Trinità dei Monti steps. It was the work of Pietro Bernini from 1627 to 1629. It was inspired by a barge inundated in the river Tiber.

The Fontana del Tritone,work of 1643 located in Piazza Barberini. It was made by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

It took its name representing the four continents where the most important rivers were found in antiquity, the Danubbio, the Ganges, the Rio della Plata and the Nile.
It was built by Gian Lorenzo Bernini together with his students, located in the center of Navona Square.

It was the work of several sculptors, Gian Lorenzo Bernini began work and was completed by Nicola Salvi and Giuseppe Panini.
At the center of the fountain is the God of the Ocean on a shell-shaped chariot pulled by two horses trailed by tritons. On the sides of the fountain we can admire the statues of Salubrity and Abundance.

Another wonderful work is the Fountain of the Naiadi located in Piazza della Repubblica.
At the center of the fountain is the Glaucus which holds a dolphin close to itself.
It takes its name from the statues that surround the Naiadi.
